Leslie Marshall
The Puppy Tutor
Leslie started teaching group puppy classes for both well-manned family pets as well as the competitive dog enthusiast in 1986. She continues to teach competitive students in obedience, rally and agility.
Leslie’s main focus is working virtually with families and their new puppies. These virtual training sessions help owners educate their puppies in the home environment where distractions can be appropriately controlled.
Even very young puppies can successfully learn how to get your attention by sitting politely, rather than jumping all over people! When a puppy is positively reinforced for appropriate behaviours, and making good choices, it wants to repeat these behaviours. Once a skill is mastered at home, then training progresses to different locations.
For those puppies and adolescent dogs that already
have some quirks in their behaviour that an owner doesn’t appreciate, Leslie has numerous helpful solutions. She understands how to read canine body language, and communicate effectively with dogs, guiding them in the right direction with more appropriate behaviours.
Leslie competes in a variety of dog sports with her own dogs. Her Miniature Schnauzers continue to be successful in obedience, Rally, agility and conformation. Several of her Schnauzers have ranked nationally in a number of dog sports in Canada since 1990.
